The Institute organized the 5th Work and Family Conference 2018. This annual event, which attracts HR Directors, Managing Directors and CEOs from across Industries was held on Thursday 31st of May 2018 and took place at Four Points by Sheraton hotel Victoria Island Lagos. This year’s theme was on Humanistic Management and Employee Experience.
In attendance were experts in the HR field who made up the key note speakers; an international expert, Santiago Martinez from the School of Virtuous Leadership and Founder/CEO Providentia Ltd Helsinki, Finland gave the first key note address on Virtuous Leadership & Humanistic Management this was followed by a world class scholar and researcher, Prof. Franca Ovadje, Founder Danne Institute for Research. She provided some research findings on Employee Experience & Meaningfulness at Work – What Research Shows. These findings gave a clearer insight into the theme.
A renown HR expert from Nigeria, Udom Inoyo who is the current President and Chairman of the Governing Council of Chartered Institute of Personnel Managers (CIPMN) and the Vice President of Exxon Mobil Nigeria gave the second keynote on Humanistic Management & Employee Experience: Impact on Work & Family. He provided some insight into the manifestation of employee experience and gave several examples on Humanistic Management. There was a panel session comprising of the three speakers. This was an interactive session with the delegates.
During this session the delegates gave opinions on the subject matter and shared experiences. At the end, majority of the participants were of the opinion that they would practice virtuous leadership and adopt the humanistic approach in managing their employees. The participants also commended the Institute on her organization of this year’s conference as well as look forward to the next conference.
